MARCH 22TH, 2022 - On the occasion of celebrating March 22 – World Water Day, a group of students from elementary schools in the area of the water source “Bolje Sestre”, paid a visit to the water source location itself and the pertaining water production plant and were given an informative lesson by Regionalni vodovod Crnogorsko primorje Ltd. Employees. Young environmentalists made a tour around the location of the water source that provides potable water for the Montenegrin Coast, became familiar with procedures of water production and distribution, as well as with operations of the laboratory at the Bolje Sestre facility.
The visit was organized in cooperation with Lake Skadar National Park with which Regionalni vodovod executes joint projects aimed at raising awareness on the importance of safeguarding and conserving waters.
This year’s theme of World Water Day is “Groundwater – Making the Invisible Visible” which is especially important for Regionalni vodovod given the current challenges related to the protection of the water source “Bolje Sestre” as an underground source of water of exceptional quality, whose yield has seriously been jeopardized predominantly due to human factor, as the currently available data have shown.
As the beneficiary of the Cross Border Program Interreg – IPA CBC Italy-Albania-Montenegro, Regionalni vodovod continuously undertakes activities related to educating students on the importance of safeguarding waters under the slogan ”SAVE WATER, SAVE FUTURE“.
